Days left of classes are winding down fast.

I completed my internship at a local Physical Therapy clinic and now have much more time on my hands. Being an intern at the clinic was a great experience and I will miss the staff and patients that I had developed relationships with. Upon completion of the 140 hour requirement I now am working on a project and paper covering my day to day tasks and commenting on my experience. The project I chose to do was to send out a survey to all the local clinics asking them 10 different questions regarding their acceptability of student interns in their clinic. I'm excited to get the results back and gather this information. I do have a ton coming up homework and class wise... so hopefully I won't let myself get too overwhelmed!
We had our last and final Purple and Gold days here at ONU (for the semester) for the seniors in high school that came to visit. It was a great time, slightly cold, but still a lot of fun. This time my friend Chris and I walked a group down MI avenue and we stopped in the Disney Store, Ghirardelli Chocolates for free samples, The Hershey Store, and finished at the 3 story Borders book store... then we walked back to end our night at Starbucks for a free drink of our choice :) Overall it was a great end to Purple and Gold days for the semester!
Being a Resident Assistant out in the University Place Apartments, I have the opportunity of planning parties for my complex. SO for the Wednesday before Easter Break, I planned a Easter Egg Decorating Party... I'm super excited! The different parties I've already had are Tie-Dying, Decorating Christmas Cookies, and a hot dog cookout! So I'm thinking this one will be just as fun as all the others were!

semester is flying by...

Spring break is only 4 days away... after spring break there is about 3 weeks of classes then Easter break... then less than a month and GRADUATION! The semester is flying by so fast... there is still so much work to do and so little time. After this semester is over just one more left and to the real world I go! Lately since spring break begins after classes end on Friday... the professors have been piling on the tests and projects like CRAZY! Everything is either due this Thursday or Friday for most all of my classes... but it will make break that much better!
This past weekend I actually went home with my sister and one of my good friends Laura... we went home because my sister's wedding dress came into David's Bridal and she had to go in for her final fitting... who would have known how productive of a weekend this weekend would have been... I ended up finding a wedding dress AND my sister and I found bridesmaid dresses for my friend Laura's wedding. So to say the least... this weekend was jam-packed with wedding
planning and relaxing. It was great to get all of my homework done before the weekend and sleep at home in my own bed. This is me (left) my friend Laura and my sister Emily right before we left my house to head back to school.
I'm heading to Virgina on Friday (driving 12 hours) with my friend Laura and her fiancee to go visit my fiancee for my spring break!

Love is in the air...

Superbowl weekend I drove to Midway airport, picked up my fiance, spent 6 hours in the car, and drove home to Michigan! We got home late on Friday and woke up really early (10am) to go snowboarding... for my first time. So everyone that knows how to snowboard knows that the first time is always the LEAST fun... and I can say this... MAN was I sore! I woke up Sunday and didn't think I could walk and my bottom was real sore from falling over and over and over throughout the whole day. Nevertheless, I had so much fun learning to snowboard. I didn't quite get carving on my toes down, so I just switched back and forth on my heels (for all you boarders out there). It was a great relaxing weekend to say the least.
I came back to the hustle and bustle of the semester. My internship is going pretty well. I'm learning a lot simply by observing Jarek and the different techniques and modalities he uses. Classes are getting more in depth... I had my first test of the semester today... Sports Nutrition... I think it went okay :) This week is our Revival week for the University. The speaker the University brought in is Dr. Scott Daniels. He is the pastor of PazNaz or Pasadena Church of the Nazarene in California! He's doing a great job... I really appreciate the stories he has been bringing to the table, and the challenge to us all to be instruments of God's love and light in the world!
Valentines Day is right around the corner... which is exciting for two reasons...
1. It's our winter break (aka) we don't have classes on Friday!
2. I get to see my fiance
So to say the least... love is in the air... so grab a friend or significant other and have a fun weekend celebrating Valentines Day eating chocolates! Here is my Valentine for you all!

Ketchup =)

I'm going to use this post as a little "catch up" post... hence my clever title =)
Before break, I failed to mention we had our annual Christmas Banq
uet. This year (since my fiance is at home in northern VA) I went with a group of 8 girls and 1 lucky guy friend of ours. All of us girls got dolled up for a nice dinner in Chalfant, followed by a comedian for our entertainment. My most favorite part (other than seeing all of my friends dressed to impress) was the chocolate chip cheese cake =) It was REMARKABLE! (I'm in the black dress with gold/green ribbon)
I got back to school safe and sound Sunday afternoon after being stuck in Battle Creek, MI due to a snow storm... and was able to unpack and relax being thankful for getting back safely! Monday night the Associated Student Council office put on a birthday party for our President, Dr. Bowling... and what better place to have it at than the BOWLING alley! There was free bowling for all university students until mid-night. So my friends and I went and celebrated with bowling for 2 hours! It was a blast. ONU had the entire place to itself and it was PACKED!
Classes officially started back up this past Tuesday (Jan 13)... However, mother nature had a different idea. We went to classes Tuesday and Wednesday despite the frigid weather... and then... CLASSES CANCELED on both Thursday and Friday! It was amazing! We didn't have to go to classes, not because there was snow, but because there was a -30 wind chill both of those days! Talk about antarctica... I felt like I was right there at home with the Eskimos and polar bears. It was too cold to walk around outside anywhere for a good distance. So naturally, being closed in my apartment for a lovely 4 day weekend I soaked it all in with chick flicks, frozen pizzas, and hanging out with my girl friends. It was such a great weekend!
Today classes resumed and boy is it feeling like a LONG day. This morning I had Physics II and then I went to my first day of my Physical Therapy Internship. I'm really excited to see how everything pans out for this internship. I had a good first day, however, I didn't really know what to do or what to expect so I was a bit nervous. It was neat to see the therapist working with the patients doing exercises and performing different techniques that I have been learning all about. I go Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well... 18 hours a week! I'm definitely going to be busy as a BEE this semester =) Till next time!

Christmas Break! =)

Sooooooo.... break has been AMAZING! Break came at the exact moment that I needed it most.... after staying up late and studying like crazy for finals, it finally feels nice to sit and relax and not have to think about classes at all. It's been 17 days so far and I don't have to go back to school until Saturday (for RA training stuff) classes really don't start until the 13th!
Break has pretty much consisted of relaxing and playing games with my family. I've hung out with a couple friends from back home, and visited my old youth pastors church and hung out with some people I used to go to youth group with... which was a total blast! My family is addicted to games... and were all really competitive (which makes things interesting)... so we've played endless games of Mexican Train Dominos and Settlers of Catan... both games usually take at least an hour and a half... it gets pretty intense. But it's great hanging out with family and relaxing!
The past 9 days my fiance came in from Virginia which was GREAT! I hadn't seen him since Thanksgiving so it was great to actually get to spend that amount of time with him. However, the day I drove with my dad to the airport to pick him up... I went to the doctor and she told me I had a sinus infection... GREAT! Just what I wanted... not... so to say the least I was sick the ENTIRE time my fiance was here at the house :( But nevertheless, we had a lot of fun hanging with family playing games and hanging out with some of my friends. On Saturday my entire dad's side of the family went to Frankenmuth for a chicken dinner at Zenders (amazing you MUST go at some point in your life!) And when I say my entire dad's side of the family I mean all 24 of us sat at a huge table with pounds of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, squash, noodles, slaw, bread rolls.... and topped everything off with a little orange sherbert! It was so much fun... then after dinner we walked to the old fashioned candy store and my grandma treated all of her 13 grandkids to candy! After that a few of my aunts and uncles and cousins came over to my house and we played the game Curses (which is HILARIOUS)... you pretty much just make yourself look like a fool... and laugh at everyone else! So that was a great night and a lot of fun getting to hang out with my family and my fiance.
I'm excited for next semester... I'm unsure at this point if my internship will line up... but I'm praying that it does because I am super excited for it! Hope you all had great Christmases and New Years!

6 class days left... but who's counting???

There are only 6 class days left... so only 8 more days until CHRISTMAS BREAK! I know I'm not alone in feeling a HUGE need for this break coming up. This week is notorious for all of professors to assign projects and papers, homework and tests all at the same time... Which for us students = major STRESS! So I'm definitely looking forward to a break... again. Just coming back from Thanksgiving break a week ago was a temptation to want to have a nice long break. I did have an enjoyable Thanksgiving break though... hung out with my family-- who all 19 of us had Thanksgiving dinner at my house and then played games after eating till we had to put on our sweat pants!
I am excited for Christmas break... super excited. This year our break starts after finals on Tuesday December 16th... and second semester classes don't resume until January 13th! Almost an entire month to relax and not have to think about projects, homework, classes, or anything dealing with school. It is definitely a much needed break. I feel as if my Junior year has been the toughest so far with having to think about taking the GRE for graduate school applications... applying to graduate schools, my sister's wedding plans, and my own wedding plans... it's kind of a hectic time... but AMAZING at the same time.
Tomorrow is our Christmas Chapel... which is going to be an awesome time of rockin' out to some rock and roll Christmas Carols =) I'm super excited for tomorrow... chapel that is... not the fact that I have a huge exam and a presentation to give, and a lab to attend to as well... BUT after the day is finished I planned a Cookie Decorating Christmas Party for my girls in UP 200... I'm really excited to eat Christmas cookies, listen to Christmas music, read the Christmas story, dress in our finest and ugliest Christmas sweaters and enjoy each other's company. Christmas is truly an awesome time that brings so many people together to simply enjoy one another.
Well... next blog will be over break... and I'll be sure to fill you in on all the FUN and RELAXING times I'm having! Enjoy the season... and the REASON for it as well!

THANKSgiving Break!

Thanksgiving break could not come any faster. Despite the fact that after coming back from break I will be running around like a chicken with its head cut off... I cannot WAIT for Thanksgiving break. I can't wait to sit around in sweats with my family, consuming large amounts of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, green beans, and my grandmas homemade cream puffs :) I am SO thankful for this break coming up. Classes are winding down VERY fast and tests, homework, and projects are all being assigned and due at the same time!
The end of each semester brings the library-love out of everyone. Two nights ago when I was studying in the library (for about 5 hours) the ASC staff... that would be Associated Student Council... came around in the library and passed out Tootsie-Pops to all the students that were studying away. I am definitely looking forward to next semester and starting my internship for Physical Therapy at one of the clinics in town. I only have 2 semesters left, since I am graduating a semester early (which is exciting and scary to think about at the same time).
Christmas break this year is about 3 weeks and 4 days long. Finals will be done, there won't be ANY homework, tests, or projects to think about or complete. Christmas break will be absolutely glorious :) Time to relax with my older sis, little bro (who is 6'1... so not so little really) and my mom, dad, and fiance!
